Ramaphosa stresses need for investment in critical areas of Limpopo’s economy

President Ramaphosa delivered his keynote address at the Limpopo Investment Conference, noting the need for increased investments in the province’s economic areas to encourage growth and recovery.

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a keynote address at the Limpopo Provincial Investment Conference on Wednesday, 1 September 2021. Ramaphosa stated that the conference formed part of the national effort to attract foreign and domestic investment amounting to R1.2 trillion over the next five years.

The president stressed that increased investment in Limpopo is critical in areas of the provincial economy. These include mining and mineral beneficiation, agriculture, agro-processing and tourism. These industries are said to have huge potential to draw large and sustained capital investments into the province.

Ramaphosa further noted that investing in Limpopo is strategic as the province shares borders with neighbouring countries, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, meaning that it is positioned as a gateway to a potential market of 300 million people in the Southern African Development Community region. He also urged all to grow Limpopo and South Africa together.
