Zuma Foundation calls out insensitivity towards former president’s health

The Jacob Zuma Foundation has condemned the insensitive manner in which the matter of the former president’s ill-health has been handled, calling out the NPA and Zondo Commisison.

The Jacob Zuma Foundation, on Tuesday, 10 August 2021, condemned what it called malicious and syndicated reportage in a statement. The foundation expressed that it is greatly disturbed by the callous and insensitive manner in which the NPA and the media have chosen to deal with the matter of the health of former president, Jacob Zuma.

The foundation stated that it had instructed the legal team to take all the necessary legal steps to protect Zuma’s rights that it believes have been grossly violated, including the reporting of the culprits to their institutions of accountability and/or initiating appropriate civil or criminal proceedings. The Zuma Foundation further claimed that a confidential hospital letter had circulated at a mass level in violation of the human dignity and privacy rights of the former president, and it has appealed to other medical houses to refrain from perpetuating the injustice.

The Zuma Foundation has called out the NPA for what it has noted as condescending utterances in relation to the matter, and also called out acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo for doubting the report given by the legal team on Zuma’s ill-health.
