British American Tobacco has released a statement announcing Zafar Khan as the person who will be taking over the director role from Alan Davy at the end of the month.

British American Tobacco (BAT) released a statement on Tuesday, 19 January 2021, detailing the upcoming change in its leadership. The company is set to bid farewell to its current Director of the Board, Alan Davy. Davy has been a part of the company for over 32 years, since joining the company in 1988. The statement first served to confirm that from Sunday, 31 January 2021, Davy will no longer hold the position of the company’s director, and will be succeeded by Zafar Khan.

The statement read, “Zafar Khan, currently Group Head of New Categories Operations, will succeed Alan as Director [of] Operations and will be appointed to the Management Board effective 1st February 2021. Zafar started with BAT in his home country of Pakistan 24 years ago. Through his career, he has acquired extensive global operations and supply chain experience, including Regional Operations Director, Asia Pacific and Middle East and Group Head of Plan, Service and Logistics.”

Speaking on the succession plan, BAT’s Chief Executive, James Bowles was quoted as saying, “BAT has around 13 million consumers of our non-combustible products and Zafar’s experience of expanding our capabilities and embedding an end-to-end supply chain for our new category products makes him the natural choice as Director [of] Operations to accelerate the delivery of our A Better Tomorrow strategy.”
