While American singer, Normani, was previously positioned as this generation’s most promising performer, her poor live performances have seen her having to redeem herself.
Beyoncé is arguably the greatest performer to emerge from the late 1990s and early 2000s, with many hailing her as one of the greatest performers of all time. Most recently, former Fifth Harmony member, Normani, was earmarked as this generation’s frontrunner to take the baton. However, following her poor NBA performance and failure to release consecutive hit singles, that is no longer the case.
This question was prompted by a recent video on social media which explained Mariah Carey’s 1992 performance at the MTV Unplugged session. The post stated that Mariah partook in the show to prove that she is not just a studio performer, but that she can sing her songs, including her signature whistle note, live. That is a stark contrast to Normani and her trending NBA performance, which worked against her, as it cemented critics’ opinions that she is a great dancer but not a great live singer.
With Normani facing the challenge of having to redeem herself and prove why she should still be considered a frontrunner, are there any other names that come to mind? Personally, I cannot think of any names off the top of my head. As much as there are many vocalists that I respect, I am yet to see a gripping live performance from most of the emerging artists.
