The Techinn website does not seem too bad at first, but a little digging does reveal a few red flags about shopping on this platform.
Shopping for the newest technologies from South Africa can be frustrating, but the reviews and red flags seem to indicate that shopping on Techinn will only serve to add to this frustration.
Why Techinn may not be as good as it seems
Trying to stay on the cusp of all the new technological gadgets in the world can be quite tricky when you are shopping from South Africa.
And while our local retailers do have some of the major brands, you may be tempted to resort to international sites when you want other international brands, or in cases where local stock is very limited.
If you have been on the hunt for various technological goodies recently, chances are, you have stumbled across a company called Techinn (techinn.com), or even its parent company, Tradeinn (tradeinn.com).
However, while this site’s affordable prices are certainly extremely compelling, some reviewers have already warned the public that ordering from Techinn is not exactly all it is cracked up to be.
A few things about the Techinn website that do not add up
At first glance, the Techinn website looks very convincing – it even lists a physical address, contact details, affiliated companies and more.
However, upon closer inspection, many of the claims made on this website seem to fall apart. For a start, the website has a variety of payment options, including Ayden and PayPal, but Tradeinn is not listed as a partner on either of these services’ websites.
Tradeinn also promises that browsing on the website is safe, since it earned the Confianza Online seal of approval. But, again, the company is not listed under Confianza Online’s partners.
Reviews for Techinn
The reviews for Techinn also leave a lot to be desired. Techinn only has a 3.7 out 5-star rating on Trustpilot (its parent-company, Tradeinn also only scores 3.2 out of 5 stars). Techinn has a rating of only 1.22 stars on hellopeter.
As it stands, about a third of the company’s total reviews (33%) only give it one star. And a quick glance at these negative reviews reveals a pattern of slow or non-delivery a failure to pay refunds (or respond to refund requests) and even complaints about faulty products.
What about the app?
Having a functioning app is usually a green flag for online businesses. However, this is not exactly the case with Tradeinn’s app. The app listed on the Techinn website redirects to an app for the platform’s parent-company, Tradeinn.
The Tradeinn app only has 2.6 out of 5 stars on Google Play and 3.4 stars on the Apple App Store, which does little to affirm the credibility of Techinn’s parent-company.
