The all-athletes season of Dancing with the Stars has been condensed due to new format – but, it promises to be all the more intense for it.
Season 26 of Dancing with the Stars premiered on 30 April 2018. However, unlike the usual twelve-week season, this series will only be four weeks long.
Nevertheless, seeing that this is an all-athlete special competitive season, the show promises to be all the more intense. Each episode will see at least two dances per couple which will culminate in the elimination of two dancing pairs.
These are the reasons for the show’s condensed format:
- The all-athletes competitor format is under trial run. Producers are wanting to gauge the audience response to these type of contestants before committing to a longer run.
- It is alleged that ABC is focusing more on the return of American Idol.
