Italian football club, AS Roma, will be saying goodbye to its manager, Paulo Fonseca, at the end of the season, reportedly due to its poor and inconsistent performance.
In the world of any sport, winning is key; but just winning does not guarantee the strength of a person in sport or the strength of a team. Consistency may just be the winning factor in determining the power of dominance in the exciting world of sports.
The exact same rings especially true in the world of football. With different league titles up for grabs, the team sport is a highly competitive one. Every team wants to dominate in the rankings of different leagues and seasons, but most especially, to qualify and win in the highest ones such as the Champions League.
Paulo Fonseca, who currently manages Roma, is set to depart from managing the team due to the poor performance of the club. According to an article published by Last Word On Sports, the news of his departure was confirmed by Roma themselves.
The poor performance of the Fonseca-led club may be the reason for the club’s decision to rework managerial positions. Dan Friedkin, the owner of the club, is under immense pressure to appoint a better manager for the club, as a way to make up for the struggles Roma faced under the leadership of Fonseca.
The team has been desperate to return to the Premier League, but its results in Serie A have proven to make it difficult to get there. Fonseca’s leadership has brought progress in the Europa League, but has been met with a consistent struggle in Serie A.
The team’s performance has taken a huge knock, and with high hopes of reaching the Champions League and Premier League, the club will have to part ways with the Portuguese manager after a two-year tenure. Whoever will replace Fonseca is yet to be announced.
