Why conspiracy theorists believe that XXXTentacion’s death was staged

Rapper XXXTentacion was shot and killed on Monday, 18 June 2018, but some believe that he remains alive – here’s why

Twenty-year-old rapper XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy) was shot and killed two days ago in South Florida.

According to witness reports and police statements the rapper was out motorcycle shopping at the time of his death. Investigators presently believe that XXX’s murder was a random robbery, as two men wearing masks allegedly approached his car, shot him, took a Louis Vuitton bag from his vehicle and drove off.

However, the rapper’s family reportedly believe that he was targeted for murder and that police should investigate known enemies.

Alternatively, there have been groups of conspiracy theorists and fans who refute XXX’s death and claim that the footage of his murder has been staged for a music video.

Here are a few reasons why these conspiracies have flourished on social media.

Conspiracy theorists pointed out a video on YouTube which is titled, “XXXTentacion goes live on Instagram and confirms that he is not dead”. The video has been viewed over one million times.

The video was used as pseudo-evidence by conspiracy theorists to prove that XXX staged his death for a music video.

However, it was later verified that the video had been uploaded as an Instagram Live by XXX some time ago. XXX published the video after footage of himself with a noose around his neck was posted to his Instagram. This footage was later used in the music video for his song Look At Me.
