It has now been a few months since the third season of Op my eish! was filmed, but the drama has not died down just yet.
Brendan Peyper chose his Op my eish! winner, but there are some doubts about whether he and Janae will be able to make their relationship last.
What happened to Brendan and Janae after Op my eish!?
The most recent, third season of kykNET’s dating show, Op my eish! follows the popular Afrikaans singer, Brendan Peyper, alongside his wingman, JoBlack, as he attempts to find his one true love amongst the 16 single ladies who signed up hoping to do the same.
And if you followed this rollercoaster of a love journey all the way to the final episode – you will know that Brendan made his final decision and chose Janae Stander as the winner of his heart and of this season.
It has now been a few months since they actually filmed this season in October of 2023, and it might just be time to investigate whether these two love birds have kept the romance going after the cameras stopped rolling.
Who is Janae Stander?
Janae first made her mark in the Op my eish! competition (and presumably Brendan’s heart) when she became the first girl he kissed on camera in the early stages of the competition.
But before she became the girl who won over Brendan Peyper on national television, she spent most of her time studying to complete her honours degree in Fashion Retail management and Supply at the North-West University.
Janae admits that she never even would have entered the competition if her friends had not encouraged her to apply for this season.
Brendan and Janae’s future plans
Though dating competition shows can often seem like a fairy tale, the reality is that Janae and Brendan only ever spent eight weeks together on set (of which Brendan estimates that they only really saw each other for about two to four hours in total).
Hereafter, they had to hide their newly-confirmed relationship for about six months, until the final episode of the season aired.
As a result, Brendan and Janae have shared that they decided to take things slow and do not consider their relationship to be serious just yet.
Are they still together?
Dating shows, ranging from the international The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise, to franchises like Married at First Sight or Love is Blind have never really had the best luck with connecting long-term, committed couples.
And unfortunately, South Africa’s own Op my eish! does not seem to be doing much better.
Neither Brendan nor Janae have posted any photos together since the show ended, and rumours have already started spreading that their relationship fizzled out just as quickly as it started.
