The short expiry dates of links on WeTransfer have been the shared struggle of many users who have come to rely on the service when sharing large files.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the file-sharing platform WeTransfer announced that its users would now have an extended expiry date of up to 30 days, effectively marking a departure from the usual 7-day period.
Through the move, the Company says it hopes it can avoid one of the user’s main frustration, specifically the words: “can you send that link again? It expired”, which was a constant refrain of many WeTransfer users.

Notice the duplicitous nature of the WeTransfer statement?
“WeTransfer links will no longer expire.” Yeah right – you have just extended it from 7 to 30 days. Some of the communications departments in these companies are indeed a piece of work.
Anyway, to make full use of the link extension function, you guessed it, you need to use the “WeTransfer mobile app.” The obsession with mobile apps again – anyway, that is a rant for another day.
