Tharisa has released a statement announcing the imminent resignation of non-executive director, Vaneese Wing Ye Chu, which rules her out of the running to lead the Tharisa Board of Directors.
Tharisa released a statement on Thursday, 21 January 2021, to announce a change in the initial programme for the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). During the upcoming virtual AGM, the board was meant to vote for a Director of the Board, with Vaneese Wing Ye Chu having been in the running. However, the statement has since confirmed that Ye Chu will be resigning from the board.
Despite a slight change in the programme for the AGM, the statement explained that the rest of the programme remains unchanged. Moreover, the company has identified a suitable candidate to fill the position. According to the statement, “In compliance with Section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, the Board is pleased to announce that Ms Shelley Wai Man Lo will be appointed to the Board as a non-executive director with effect from the conclusion of the AGM to be held on Wednesday, 10 February 2021.”
Ye Chu’s resignation from the board will also take effect on the day of the AGM. In expressing well wishes to Ye Chu and her future endeavours, the statement added, “Despite her relatively short tenure as member of the Board, Ms Chu has made a valuable contribution to the Company and the board wishes her well.”
