Van Damme prepares for legal battle over alleged unsolicited sabbatical

Published on

The DA’s Phumzile Van Damme has vowed to pursue legal action after allegedly being subjected to an unsolicited sabbatical by the party’s leader, John Steenhuisen.

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Phumzile Van Damme took to Twitter on Sunday, 6 December 2020, to address what she noted as inaccuracies by DA Federal Leader, John Steenhuisen regarding her alleged unsolicited sabbatical. Van Damme had taken to Twitter on Saturday, 5 December 2020, to claim that she was subjected to a forced sabbatical, supposedly because of health issues.

However, Van Damme has maintained that her health has not affected her work, nor has it stopped her from fulfilling some aspects of her work. Therefore, when Steenhuisen was interviewed on Van Damme’s claims, she alleged that he revised the truth to make it sound as if she was the one who had requested the sabbatical, which she claims is false.

The matter has been handed over to Van Damme’s legal team, according to her post. She stated, “The party will communicate with my lawyers in 2021 about this matter. In the meantime, every single inaccurate and untrue fact put out there in public, I will correct.”
