The UIF has released a statement announcing when it is set to open and begin processing applications for the extended COVID-19 TERS period.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, to circulate a statement providing clarity on the one-month extension of the COVID-19 Temporary Employer-Employees Relief Scheme (TERS). The fund previously confirmed the extension of the COVID-19 TERS initiative, which was extended to include the period between Wednesday, 16 September 2020, and Thursday, 15 October 2020.

Before the announcement of the extension in early November, the closing date for the COVID-19 TERS initiative was Friday, 30 October 2020. According to the post, the UIF is set to open and begin processing the new applications from Monday, 23 November 2020.

The statement read, “The extension has been subject to robust discussions with social partners at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC). The receipt of COVID-19 TERS applications for the 16 September 2020 to 15 October 2020 will close on Thursday, 31 December 2020, and no further applications shall be accepted beyond that date.”
