UIF confirms opening of October COVID-19 TERS applications
The UIF has confirmed the opening of the October COVID-19 TERS applications, following the one-month extension announced by the president.
The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) took to Twitter on Sunday, 22 November 2020, to circulate one last reminder ahead of the opening of the applications for the one-month extension of the COVID-19 Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS). The extension applies to the period between Wednesday, 16 September 2020, and Thursday, 15 October 2020.
The extension was a contentious matter before President Cyril Ramaphosa announced it during a recent national address. Following the initial deadline being reached, it was believed that there would not be an extension of the initiative, despite the three-month extension of the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
According to the post, the scheme will start accepting and processing applications on Monday, 23 November 2020. Employers who are looking to apply have until the end of December 2020 to submit their claims.
