UDM Youth Vanguard calls for clear directives from Ramaphosa

Published on

The UDM Youth Vanguard has released a statement lambasting the president and his recently presented Economic Recovery Plan, also highlighting that some of his previous plans are yet to be implemented.

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) Youth Vanguard released a statement on Tuesday, 20 October 2020, in response to the recently shared Economic Recovery Plan. The statement echoed the sentiments that have been expressed by other political bodies – that the plan sounds good on paper but will most likely not be implemented, partially because of impracticality.

The statement poked holes at the plan, such as questioning the timeline to creating the announced 800 000 employment opportunities. The UDM Youth Vanguard also used the statement to note that the president has previously delivered numerous plans but failed to see them through.

“We call on President Ramaphosa to issue directives to all departments with clear plans and implementation strategies, with time frameworks, that sets out how his plans should be implemented. Accordingly, those plans must be published so that young people can hold the departments and the relevant ministers accountable,” the statement read.
