Treasury has announced the government’s launch of a registration portal for businesses affected by the July unrest, intended to gather data to better manage relief measures and interventions.
On Monday, 13 September 2021, National Treasury released a statement announcing that the government has launched a registration portal for the businesses that were affected by the July unrest. As part of the relief package announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 25 July 2021, measures are being implemented by the government to help small and medium businesses rebuild.
The registration portal will set out to collect data from affected businesses to better manage the relief measures and inform future interventions. The portal is also meant to provide the government with a single-entry point for businesses to indicate the extent of their losses and to access available facilities.
Government has therefore called on all businesses that were affected by the July unrest, encouraging them to register on the portal or using the QR code presented, alternatively, on the toll-free call centre number provided.
