Transport Ministry insources 3 100 PRASA security personnel

The Ministry of Transport has revealed that 3 100 PRASA security personnel have been insourced to combat vandalism and the damaging of infrastructure.

The Transport Ministry took to Twitter on Tuesday, 6 October 2020, to share that it has insourced 3 100 Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) security personnel. The move is part of the ministry’s efforts to combat vandalism and the damaging of infrastructure.

Minister Fikile Mbalula previously described the department’s security plan as a “multi-disciplinary involving justice, safety and security cluster departments.” The plan is set to combat the looting of desolate train stations.

In the past, the minister announced plans to employ 3 100 PRASA security personnel. The latest post acts as proof of the plan being implemented. Another matter that the minister was cognizant of was the manner in which the employment process was conducted. The statement revealed that the employees were insourced, avoiding suggestions of corruption.
