The Transport Department has announced a delay in the report on road fatalities from the 2020 festive season, and has yet to confirm the scheduled date for its release.
The Department of Transport took to Twitter today, 20 January 2021, to announce a delay in the release of the report on the road fatalities that occurred over the 2020 festive season. The reason for the delay was not disclosed in the post.
The report was meant to be released today at 10:00. The previous announcement post detailed that the presentation would be held at the N12 Eldorado Park Pedestrian Bridge.
While festive season road fatalities have been contentious in the past, last year would have likely marked a considerable drop in numbers. During the 2020 festive season, the government reintroduced the alcohol ban, as alcohol-related accidents were common in previous years.
