Traffic accident leaves five dead in Yamoussoukro

A traffic accident involving a mini-car commonly called Massa and a type 504 vehicle occurred Monday, 3 August 2020 on the main road of Yamoussoukro, the Ivorian political and administrative capital (center of the country) causing a provisional toll of twenty-eight victims including five deaths.

“On Monday 03 August at 6.13 am (local time and GMT), a traffic accident involved a Massa and a 504 in Yamoussoukro on the main track. The provisional toll is twenty-eight victims including five deaths… ”, announced the Group of military firefighters (GSPM) in an information note.

In 2019 in Côte d’Ivoire, traffic accidents have killed twenty-four thousand nine-hundred and seven people, including five-hundred and thirty-seven deaths in the country. The state of the roads and the recklessness of drivers are generally at the origin of 94% of road accidents that occur in the country, according to the Ivorian government.
