The much-anticipated Roast of AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, will premier tonight, 11 March 2019, at 21:30 on Showmax.
South Africans will be treated to the much-anticipated Comedy Central Roast of AKA, premiering on Monday evening, 11 March 2019, on Comedy Central, DStv channel 122. Comedy Central’s Roast is an event where media personalities come together to makes jokes about the featured personality whom the roast is hosted on behalf of. Previous guests have included media personality and author Somizi, businessman Kenny Kunene and radio personality Gareth Cliff, to name a few.
Tonight’s panel that will be roasting the Supa Mega, as AKA is known to his fans, is television presenter Nina Hastie, actor and presenter Moshe Ndiki, musician Moonchild Sanelly, veteran musician Penny Penny, comedian Joe Rasdien, Nigerian musician Davido, retired Bafana Bafana footballer Mark Fish and fellow musician Francois van Coke.
Pearl Thusi has been named the Roast Master and she will be creating history as the very first black female to hold the Roast Master title. It is to be noted that Pearl Thusi and AKA are not fans of each other.
This year, things will be done a little differently. Starting off the show with AKA’s Microwave Roast at 19:00 on MTV Base, channel 322, will be YouTubers Microwave Boys, made up of Sipho Muchindu, Larry Nhlane and Sphakamiso Ngwenya, who will be joined by actress and presenter Farieda Metsileng, known as Pharoahfi.
A Behind The Scenes will follow at 20:00 and then Jason Goliath will usher viewers in with a Pre-Roast Special at 21:00 on BET, channel 129.
