The Ranakas Season 3 is a hit with fans

The new season of Mzansi Magic’s reality family show The Ranakas premiered on Thursday, 11 October, to rave viewer reviews.

The third season of South Africa’s answer to Keeping up with the Kardashians, Mzansi Magic’s own reality family series The Ranakas, debuted on Thursday, 11 October.

Fans who had been eagerly anticipating the latest season of the show were not disappointed by the first episode’s happenings.

Viewers’ favourite family characters, including actresses Dineo and Manaka Ranaka, returned to television screens to give viewers ‘a glimpse into the everyday lives of an authentic African family’.

The series is a spin-off of the highly successful VUZU AMP reality show Dineo’s Diary, starring Dineo Ranaka.

The episode saw the family patriarch Mr Ranaka entertain viewers, as he ordered his family to “Go and eat elsewhere, maybe next door…”, before calling a shebeen an “eatery”. Further antics ensued as brother Ranaka Ranaka was outed as an avid party-goer by his wife Michelle. “[He] forgets to come home,” she said.

As the episode played out, Twitter users shared their opinions on the family with memes, video clips and comments.

“I don’t care who says what, this is the best reality show in Mzansi,” tweeted one user. Another commenter later added, “I feel like The Ranaka’s is the only authentic Reality Show we have on our screens.”

The Ranakas airs on Thursdays at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic channel 161.
