#TheQueenMzansi is trending on social media after the latest episode aired on Monday 9 April.
Fans of Mzansi Magic’s soap drama, The Queen, took to Twitter to express their relief after last night’s episode aired.
Recently, it was revealed that one of the show’s characters, Kea played by Dineo Moeketsi, was being abused by her husband to be, Tebogo.
Viewers initially took to social media to request that the writers of the show adapt the storyline to prevent this abuse from continuing.
The writers seem to have taken viewers requests on board as Kea’s mother, Harriet became aware of the situation at hand. Harriet is played by veteran actress, Connie Ferguson.
Harriet confronted Tebogo at gunpoint after finding out about his behaviour.
Tebogo then ran away out of fright.
Kea defended her fiancé when confronted by her mother.
Fans reacted to the saga by flooding Twitter with memes and jokes.
However, some took a more serious approach and expressed their gratitude to the writers for confronting the issue of abuse.
Many were disappointed by Kea’s actions after what Harriet had done for her. Others posted encouraging messages about self-love and empowerment for women.
