Yesterday, 26 June 2018, actor Terry Crews gave testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for the rights of sexual assault survivors
Actor Terry Crews has accused William Morris Endeavor talent agent, Adam Venit of groping him at a party back in 2016. Crews first made the claim against Venit late last year. Yesterday, 26 June 2018, Crews appeared in front of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the Sexual Assault Survivor Bill of Rights, to reiterate his accusation.
Crews gave an emotional testimony account of the assault. He said, “The assault lasted only minutes, but what he was effectively telling me while he held my genitals in his hand, was that he held the power – that he was in control.” Crews recalled how emasculating the experience was for him and cited “toxic masculinity” and micro-aggressive racism as underlying factors in this type of abuse.
Following Crew’s testimony, rapper 50 Cent posted mocking memes about the actor on his Instagram page. One was captioned, “I got raped, my wife just watched.” Fans and supporters have lashed out against 50 Cent in retaliation, calling him a bully for his insensitivity. When Crews was questioned about 50 Cent’s comments, he said, “I love 50 Cent, I listen to his music while I’m working out.”
