Freshly debuted boy band Stray Kids were rewarded with 18 million YouTube views for ‘District 9’ music video.
JYP Entertainment’s newest boy group Stray Kids (Hangeul: 스트레이 키즈) have reached 18 million YouTube views with their ‘District 9’ music video, a week and a half after its release.
As of Friday, 6 April, 6:7 am South African time, the music video for ‘District 9’ registered 18,069,767 views.
It may not come as a big surprise, taking into the account that JYP Entertainment’s official YouTube channel has almost 7.5 million subscribers.
However, the number of views and comments suggest that the rookie K-pop band might have a bright future, rising to the level of already well-established bands such as EXO or BTS.
Another important factor is that Stray Kids co-write their own lyrics “telling” their own stories, which is additional draw card for fans.
The 9-person group released their pre-debut album ‘Mixtape’ in January 2018 and officially debuted on 26 March (25 March, Korean time) with ‘I Am Not’ album.
