StatsSA has released the results on liquidations and insolvencies for September 2021, revealing that business liquidations increased by 6.0 percent in the first nine months of 2021.
Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) issued the statistical release on liquidations and insolvencies for September 2021 on Monday, 25 October 2021. The statistics revealed that the total number of liquidations decreased by 23.7 percent in the third quarter of 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.
Year-on-year liquidations decreased by 28.0 percent in September 2021, while voluntary liquidations decreased by 46 cases and compulsory liquidations decreased by 13 cases. The total number of liquidations is said to have increased by 6.0 percent in the first nine months of 2021 compared to 2020.
The estimated number of insolvencies increased by 123 percent in the three months ended August 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. A 76.8 percent increase in insolvencies was estimated in August 2021. Seasonally adjusted insolvencies reportedly decreased by 15.9 percent in August 2021, compared to July 2021. This was followed by month-on-month changes of -15.8 percent in July 2021 and 234.1 percent in June 2021.
