The Zondo State Capture Commission has confirmed that it will continue to hear SSA-related evidence today, with the acting Director-General, Loyiso Jafta, set to take the stand.
The State Capture Commission took to Twitter on Monday, 25 January 2021, to circulate a statement on the proceedings for Tuesday, 26 January 2021. The statement confirmed that the commission will continue to hear more State Security Agency (SSA)-related evidence, following the testimony by the former Chairperson of the High-Level Review Panel into the SSA, Sydney Mufamadi.
Acting Director-General of SSA, Loyiso Jafta is set to take the stand next. He is set to continue speaking on the funds that were allegedly stolen from the agency towards the tail end of former president, Jacob Zuma’s tenure as the first citizen. According to reports, an estimated R84 million needs to be accounted for.
Despite the mounting questions on the possible return of former Eskom CEO, Brian Molefe, the commission seems to have moved on from him. Currently, there has been no word on whether Molefe will return to the stand. Today’s proceedings are set to commence at 10:00. The commission has advised that it is advisable for the public to watch the proceedings virtually or on television, in light of the pandemic and the restrictions.
