Local rap icon HHP died on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 at the age of 38.
Rapper Jabulani Tsambo, better known to his fans by his stage name HHP, passed away unexpectedly at midday on Wednesday, 24 October 2018.
A memorial service was held in his home town Mahikeng on Tuesday, 30 October and he will be laid to rest on Saturday, 3 November 2018.
In honour of his memory, music streaming platform Spotify has released a 48-song playlist of the best of his music for his fans to remember him by.
The playlist includes the singles, ‘Music and Lights’, ‘Goodfellaz’ featuring Teargas and Pro, and ‘Fall Back in Love,’ featuring Bucie.
HHP’s widow, Lerato Sengadi shared a touching tribute to the musician at his memorial service on Tuesday.
“You were so easy to love that even when you thought it was difficult, it actually wasn’t. You were and will always be one of the kindest and selfless, undeniably loving people that God has ever, ever, ever, ever put on this earth,” she said.
Rapper Cassper Nyovest brought many listeners to tears as he spoke about his feelings towards HHP on Metro FM shortly before the memorial service was set to begin.
“I’m still like in a dream, it hasn’t hit me yet but I’m starting to warm up to the idea that this might be true. I haven’t cried, I haven’t even been to the house, it’s like I’m running away, I don’t know. The funny thing is, I’ve never experienced this but I cried in a dream and I woke up with a wet pillow, so I don’t know if it was sweat or if I really cried,” he said.
