AfrikaBurn 2018 Festival, a regional event of Burning Man, will take place at Stonehenge Private Reserve, near the Tankwa Karoo National Park in April.
Wholly owned by Africa Burns Creative Projects Non Profit Company (NPC), AfrikaBurn was set up in 2007, and since then, all events were held at Stonehenge Private Reserve, which is adjacent to the Tankwa Karoo National Park. This year’s event will take place from 23 to 29 April in Tankwa, in the arid semi-desert Karoo area in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.
AfrikaBurn is a participant-created event, an exercise of creativity and radical self-expression, and is based on Burning Man, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance that takes place annually in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.
AfrikaBurn is run by volunteers guided by the same set of principles as Burning Man, adding one more principle to its list – Each One Teach One – that encourages the sharing of knowledge.
Organisers have warned that you “seriously consider where you’re going, what you’re doing and what you’ll need to do.” And that if you expect lots of booze and lay down taking in the sky, then you’re wrong, because the event is “an exercise in art and expression in an extreme environment.”
AfrikaBurn 2018 event will see the same amount of tickets issues as last year – 13 000. Ticket prices are as follows:
