Music lovers around South Africa have taken to social media to mourn the untimely passing of legendary Hip-Hop artist HHP. A host of media personalities and some of the country’s most influential people have expressed their condolences.

The likes of award-winning actor Warren Masemola, fellow Hip-Hop artists AKA, Da L.E.S, Khuli Chana and Cassper Nyovest are just some of the individuals that are evidently devastated by his passing.

One artist in particular, who had the opportunity to work quite closely with HHP, is multi award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest.

Cassper’s success and break into the industry can be partially attributed to HHP, and he has openly expressed his gratitude to the veteran for his constant support and for believing in him and his dreams. Cassper has also previously revealed that HHP gave him start-up money when he had nothing.

Cassper expressed his disbelief regarding the passing of his mentor, and also went on to retweet a fan’s video of himself on stage with HHP at his #FillUpFNBStadium concert in 2017.

‘Kontrol’ collaborators AKA and Da L.E.S also took to Twitter to pay tribute to the legend, noting that today is a terrible day for Hip-Hop, as this marks yet another icon that is gone too soon.

In addition to social media posts from other prominent individuals such as the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC, Faith Mazibuko, and Former Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula, the official South African Government account also extended its condolences to HHP’s family and close friends.

Shortly after the news of his passing, SABC 1’s lifestyle entertainment show Selimathunzi revealed that they are currently in the process of shooting a segment, with K.O, which will pay tribute to HHP.

Heartfelt messages detailing fond memories with the Jabba, as he was affectionately known, as well as tributes continue to pour in from all corners of the country.
