The SIU has released a statement affirming its intention to investigate the allegations of corruption and maladministration in the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) took to Twitter on Thursday, 29 April 2021, to endorse a statement issued by the state on its intention to investigate the allegations of corruption and maladministration in Ekurhuleni. The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has come under the spotlight for the claims.
According to the statement, “In a statement on Wednesday, SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the investigation will focus on the 9 March 2017 procurement of, or contracting for the supply of 200 portable three-wheel motorised waste collection vehicles by, or on behalf of the institutions and payments made in respect thereof.”
The investigation is set to look into Enviro Mobi, which was allegedly awarded a contract estimated at R27 million. The transactions that took place between 1 January 2017 and 23 April 2021 will be investigated. However, this does not exclude related transactions that took place before and after the stipulated dates.
