Shashi Naidoo speaks out about her ten-year ban from entering Israel

Model, Shashi Naidoo has spoken about her experience visiting Jordan in various interviews since her return to South Africa last week.

The beleaguered 37-year-old model, Shashi Naidoo has spoken out about her ten-year ban from entering Israel in an interview on Afro Worldview on Monday morning. Naidoo, who returned to South Africa last Thursday, from what was meant she said was a “re-education” trip to Palestine, revealed on Afro Worldview that she had contemplated keeping silent on her experience. She explained, however, that she feels a “moral obligation” to divulge the things she witnessed while in Jordan.

Naidoo had been absent from social media for quite some time prior to her trip to Palestine. She has since returned to both Twitter and Instagram to share photographs of her journey. In a series of posts, Naidoo shared all that she has learnt from her trip. During the interview on Afro Worldview however, Naidoo did state that she still receives daily backlash on social media which may lead her to deactivate her accounts all together. In June 2018, Naidoo was scandalised after posting comments about Israel-Palestine conflict on social media. Naidoo subsequently apologised during a press conference and vowed to visit Palestine under the auspices of anti-Israel lobby group, BDS South Africa. Upon entering Jordan, Naidoo was denied access to the West Bank and received a ten-year ban from entering Israel as she was labelled as an undesirable visitor by authorities.
