SASSA has reiterated the closing date for SRD grant appeals, adding that it will no longer accept any appeals after today, 31 May 2021.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) took to Twitter on Thursday, 27 May 2021, to state the cut-off date for Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant appeals. The SRD grant concluded payments at the end of April 2021, however, the agency continued to accept appeals from those who may have been wrongly denied or were supposed to receive funds but did not.
Today, 31 May 2021, marks the last day that people can submit their appeal applications. Thereafter, the agency will not accept any other appeals. The deadline is for appeal applications only and not for applications to receive the grant. Additionally, while the deadline for appeal applications has been stipulated as today, SASSA is still dealing with the backlog of grant recipients that were approved but have not received their funds yet. The department has not committed to a certain deadline on the matter.
