SASSA launches Temporary Disability Grant online applications

Published on

SASSA has launched the Temporary Disability Grant online applications in the Western Cape, as an alternative way to reduce long queues at nationwide offices.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) took to Twitter on Wednesday, 28 April 2021, to detail the launch of the online applications for the Temporary Disability Grant. The launch took place in the Western Cape with the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu and SASSA’s Western Cape Acting Regional Executive Manager, Abraham Mahlangu in attendance.

Mahlangu opened the proceedings with a presentation detailing how the public can book their medical assessments online. Minister Zulu then gave an address to detail the purpose of the online platform and operations.

Minister Zulu was quoted as saying, “The online booking will also address challenges associated with long queues at local offices and ensure that SASSA complies with COVID-19 regulations.” Zulu went on to add, “Disability Grant reaches [997 000] beneficiaries monthly and is the third-largest grant after Old Age Grant and Child Support Grant.”
