The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of central banking.
On Monday, 19 March, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purposes of cooperation in the field of central banking.
According to the SARB, the MoU will provide a framework for a “regular exchange of information, policy dialogue and technical cooperation between the two institutions.” Also, “technical cooperation may inter alia take the form of joint seminars and workshops in areas of mutual interest in the field of central banking.”
Deputy Governor Daniel Mminele and Executive Board Member Benoît Cœuré representing the SARB and ECB respectively signed the MoU on Monday, 19 March in Buenos Aires, on the sidelines of the 2018 G20 Buenos Aires summit.
