The director-producer duo behind the blockbuster romantic comedy Baby Mamas will join the Trending SA panel on Tuesday, 16 October 2018.
Actress Salamina Mosese and director Stephina Zwane are a filmmaking power force. The pair are the co-owners of a production company, Sorele Media, and have worked together on two feature films, including the recently released romantic comedy Baby Mamas.
Mosese and Zwane will make an appearance on SABC 3’s Trending SA on Tuesday, 16 October, at 22:30. They will join the show’s panel of hosts, which is made up of Pabi Moloi, Nina Hastie, Kuli Roberts and Musa Mthombeni, to discuss Baby Mamas in depth.
“Our guests tonight are two talented actresses, Salamina Mosese and Stephina Zwane. We will be chatting about their film Baby Mamas, which hit South African theatres over a week ago,” the Trending SA Twitter account announced.
Baby Mamas debuted at cinemas on Friday, 12 October, after months of eager anticipation. The film follows the daily lives of four single mothers who must juggle parenting, their careers and love-lives. It stars Mosese, Thembisa Mdoda, Kay Smith, and Dineo Ranaka as the leads.
The film raked in a decent R723,000 on its debut at cinemas. It was previously showcased at the Toronto Black Film Festival, New York Africa Festival and Durban International Film Festival to fair critical acclaim.
“For us, we were writing a film for women, about women and by women. But the interesting thing is it’s also a film that guys enjoy and that’s the feedback we have gotten from the film festivals that we have done,” Mosese said at the film’s premiere event.
