SAICA reminds of CPD compliance declaration deadline

Published on

SAICA took to Twitter to issue a reminder about the deadline for chartered accountants to submit their CPD compliance declarations, which are due at the end of January 2021.

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants took to Twitter on Tuesday, 12 January 2021, to share a statement acting as a reminder of the deadline for the submissions of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) compliance declarations. According to the statement, the declaration should be submitted by all chartered accountants (CA), regardless of whether they are active or not in the sector.

SAICA noted, “An output-based approach to CPD means that you need to complete a reflective plan that requires you to outline areas of development relative to the competencies you are required to demonstrate in relation to your current role. Reflective planning is an integral part of the new CPD process, and the CPD website has an example of a reflective plan to help members with the new approach.”

Although SAICA has provided a template for members to use, it is not compulsory to use the provided template. Moreover, members are required to keep the declaration in their possession for the next three years, as a group of CAs will be selected for monitoring and will need to have the declarations. The deadline for submissions is Monday, 31 January 2021.
