The SABC has released a statement welcoming the verdict by the North West High Court, which ruled in favour of its plans to dispose of residential properties in the province.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) released a statement on Wednesday, 20 January 2021, welcoming the verdict in its favour against aggrieved tenants in the North West. The initial verdict was reportedly in favour of the aggrieved tenants.
According to the statement, “The SABC was served with an urgent application by concerned and aggrieved tenants seeking to prevent the SABC from proceeding with its intention to dispose of its residential properties. These properties are leased to tenants in Mmabatho and Mahikeng. The order was granted on 10 December 2020. The North West High Court rescinded that court order which was issued in favor of the North West tenants.”
This means that the SABC will now be able to dispose of the properties. Moreover, the statement noted that the disposal of the properties is in line with the turnaround strategy of the public broadcaster.
