Red Velvet’s Joy (real name Park Soo-young, 박수영) and actor Woo Do-hwan (우도환) are playing the lead roles in MBC’s latest love drama ‘The Great Seducer (위대한 유혹자)’.
‘The Great Seducer’ is a television adaptation of the 18th century French novel ‘Les Liaisons dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.
According to Korea Herald, at a media conference that took place on Thursday, 8 March, the director Kang In, said that the story takes place in Seoul of 2018. “The story brings out the importance of love, what love means in life. The script had a fragrance of a literature, which made it charming, with a decadent cultural background,” said Kang In.
The novel has been remade multiple times, including into a Korean movie ‘Untold Scandal’, however, the director assures the upcoming drama will not be a repetition of previous works, since “the reinterpretation is important.”
The drama focuses a man who does not believe in love, and bets his life on a dangerous game to seduce women in their 20s.
‘The Great Seducer’ will take over MBC’s Monday and Tuesday 20:00 time slot previously occupied by ‘Two Cops’.
