South Korea will send a 160-member artistic delegation to Pyongyang, in a reciprocal visit after North Korea sent performers to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
On Tuesday, 20 March, South Korea Ministry of Unification (통일부) announced via a statement that it will send an “art troupe of 160 members” to North Korea, comprising singers, including Cho Yong-pil, Lee Sunhee, Choi Jin Hee, Yoon Do-hyun, Baek Z Young, Red Velvet, Jung-in, Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and ALi.
The South’s artistic delegation will be visiting Pyongyang from 31 March to 3 April, and will hold two performances each at East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and Ryugyong Jong Ju Yong Gymnasium.
In the statement, the Ministry of Unification said that a preliminary inspection team from the South side will visit Pyongyang from 22 to 24 March, and “practical issues such as stage conditions, necessary equipment and installations for performances of the South Korean art troupe will be solved through consultations between the two sides,” it added.
Also, the “safety and convenience” of the South’s delegation will be “guaranteed” by the North, reads the statement.
As soon as the news came out, worried fans started to share their concerns on the matter:
“I hope the event will go well and all of them will come back safely.”
