DCJ Raymond Zondo has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will appear before the commission in his capacity as the first citizen.
The State Capture Commission took to Twitter on Wednesday, 24 March 2021, to confirm the sentiment shared by Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Raymond Zondo. Zondo publicly announced the dates scheduled for President Cyril Ramaphosa to appear before the commission.
Ramaphosa has been implicated by multiple political figures that took the stand, especially figures which appeared in front of the commission and delivered Eskom-related evidence. Moreover, his relationship with Glencore also sparked much conversation. At the moment, it is unclear whether or not Ramaphosa will be questioned on the matter, as the post noted that his appearance will be in his capacity as the president of the country.
This suggests that Ramaphosa will not be questioned on his tenure as Deputy President of South Africa or his dealings as a businessman. However, he is set to appear on four days, therefore, there is room for many questions. Ramaphosa is scheduled to appear on Thursday, 22 April 2021, and Friday, 23 April 2021. Additionally, on Wednesday, 28 April 2021, and Thursday, 29 April 2021.
