Ramaphosa names economic recovery amongst ANC’s priorities for 2021

The ANC took to Twitter to circulate clips from the president’s speech on the priorities of the ruling party in 2021, with Ramaphosa naming economic recovery amongst those.

The African National Congress (ANC) took to Twitter on Wednesday, 13 January 2021, to circulate clips from the ruling party’s 109th anniversary celebration. Specifically, the party has been circulating snippets of the ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech from the event.

In the first clip shared, Ramaphosa reiterated the ruling party’s commitment to ensuring the economic recovery of the country. The country took a series of economic knocks in 2020, which have been attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions introduced to flatten the curve.

However, others have claimed that the lockdown merely contributed to the path that the country’s economy was already on. This is based on the alleged corruption and questionable operations of the state.

During the address, Ramaphosa also reiterated the Economic Recovery Plan that was shared by the state in 2020. However, he did not detail how far the government is in its implementation.
