Prince Kaybee releases a tribute to HHP

DJ Prince Kaybee released a new instrumental single, titled ‘Tribute to HHP’ on Tuesday, 30 October 2018.

A memorial service for local rapper HHP was held in Mahikeng on Tuesday, 30 October 2018.

The musician’s family and friends gathered to remember him, after he died unexpectedly at the age of 38 on Wednesday, 24 October 2018, at his home.

In honour of HHP’s memory, DJ Prince Kaybee released a surprise instrumental tribute on Tuesday, 30 October at 19:00.

In Februray 2018, HHP performed a freestyle rap over Kaybee’s smash dance hit, ‘Club Controller’ during an interview on Metro FM.

Hearing the interview, Kaybee began working on a beat for HHP to feature on. Sadly, the two never managed to come together to record the single.

“My Tribute to Jabba [HHP] , I remember he was overseas when I sent him this, planned that when he is back he will drop a verse, but all is well,” Prince Kaybee captioned an audio clip of the single on Instagram.

The single has been released as an instrumental piece, with Kaybee insisting that he does not want any other rapper to feature on the track.

Prince Kaybee later shared his thoughts on HHP’s legacy, writing, “HHP has always been a personal favourite of mine. No one in hip-hop can do the things he did. I called him up and he had no problems with jumping on the track. I sent him the beat to jump on and he said he was working on it. We were planning for him to come down to Durban to record but he was always travelling.”
