Published on

Pretoria weather on Wednesday, 21 February will be partly cloudy, with a minimum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, and a maximum of 27 degrees. Rain is also forecast, with a 60% chance, and 15 mm of rainfall is expected.

There is a Gauteng-wide notice by the South African Weather service, indicating that there is a low level chance that the heavy rain may leading to “localised flash flooding” in parts of the province.

The South African Weather Service has also issued a severe weather warning for the western half of the Northern Cape, and two other areas in the Western Cape.

According to the notice, there will be “veld fire conditions” in various areas of these two provinces, between 7 am and 20:00 on Wednesday, 21 February. The affected areas in the Northern Cape are Twee Rivieren, Upington, Groblershoop, Augrabies Falls, Pofadder and Garies. While in the Western Cape, the veld fire conditions will be experienced in Redelingshuys and Vredendal.

Those with plans to be in the aforementioned in the two provinces, esepecially those in farming communities must take appropriate measures and alert local fire authorities. Similarly, those travelling or transiting via transport routes in the aforementioned areas should keep updated via local traffic media sources, diverting if required. Wildfires can escalate in threat with little warning.
