Cyril Ramaphosa’s latest weekly newsletter has been released, providing further information on the Presidential Employment Stimulus plan to tackle unemployment by investing R100 billion over three years.

President Cyril Ramaphosa released his latest weekly newsletter on Monday, 19 October 2020. The newsletter endorsed the Presidential Employment Stimulus plan, as part of the government’s efforts to tackle unemployment. This was one of the plans noted during the president’s delivery of the Economic Recovery Plan on Thursday, 15 October 2020.

The statement described the plan as one that is “unprecedented in its scale and breadth, involving a public investment of R100 billion over the next three years. We will protect and create directly-funded jobs and livelihood support interventions while the labour market recovers from the coronavirus pandemic. Each of these is ready for implementation, and is additional to existing commitments.”

The statement further stressed the importance of ensuring that the public workspace is protected from any more job losses. Moreover, the government has also realised the importance of Wi-Fi connectivity in creating jobs, which will be invested in through the funds allocated for the plan.
