Pitso Mosimane weighs in on Dan Malesela sacking: It’s the way it is with local black coaches

Mamelodi Sundowns’ coach, Pitso Mosimane expressed his sadness over the sacking of Dan Malesela from Chippa United.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ head coach, Pitso Mosimane has said he feels disappointed by the sacking of Dan Malesela, and says he deserved more time as coach of Chippa United.

As Political Analysis South Africa reported on Wednesday, 22 August 2018, Malesela was given the boot after coaching just three gamesof the Port Elizabeth club.

Asked for his reaction on the news after his team’s match against Highlands Park at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday night‚ Mosimane restated his previous claims that black coaches are always walking on a tightrope.

“One of the black coaches is gone‚ hey. I spoke about it remember. Yeah‚ shame‚ it’s sad‚ but are you surprised with Chippa? There’s no news there guys‚” said Mosimane.

“We don’t have patience and I think you know Dan is a good coach‚ hey. But it’s the way it is with local black coaches.”

Meanwhile, the coach has also confirmed that Sundowns will pretty much sacrifice this weekend’s MTN8 semi-final match against Cape Town City FC for next week’s all-important CAF Champions league match against Horoya.

“We have to refresh the squad. I think ‘Mshishi’ [Themba Zwane] and them‚ they must rest. We have an important game on Tuesday which determines our fate in the bigger scheme of the Champions League‚” Mosimane said.

“So those who played against Highlands Park must rest a bit and these other guys get a chance to go to Cape Town. I don’t think the team that played [against Highlands] will play against Cape Town City and we will bring another team‚ maybe the one that played against Chiefs in the Helix Cup.”
