Pick n Pay introduces Collect Direct service for purchasing essential goods online
Pick n Pay is attempting to provide convenience for customers and eliminate excessive in-store interactions between them and staff members, by providing an online purchasing alternative in the form of its Collect Direct service.
In a Twitter post today, 1 April 2020, Pick n Pay stated, “We’ve made your lockdown shopping easier with Collect Direct. Email your grocery essentials list to a selected store, await confirmation order, arrange payment with store and then collect it directly.” The service allows customers to purchase their essential goods online and collect their items from outside the store. This enables them to have fresh goods without entering the grocery store and potentially contracting the coronavirus.
The Collect Direct service will only be available to customers in the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and the Northern Region. Further, the service has been limited to specific stores with high-volume customers, in an attempt to decreases the chances of transmitting the virus.
Goods available for purchase from the essential list include cleaning products, basic medication, fresh vegetables and fruit, meat, and other day-to-day essentials. Once the order has been placed online, a staff member from the designated Pick n Pay store will reach out to the customer, offering them a suitable time for collection.
