Peggy-Sue has opened up about some of the challenges she and her husband faced after his diagnosis, and goes on to say that he is an extraordinary man.
Former Miss South Africa Peggy-Sue admits that the past year has been very tough, following her husband Xolani Gwala’s colon cancer diagnosis. The radio veteran’s health is improving and says had it not been for his wife, he believes he would’ve died.
Speaking on Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast, Peggy-Sue commented:
“Look, I think he’s an incredible person. I think that having gone through what he went through the past year just makes him an extraordinary, strong and very positive person because it was really hard and we had many harrowing and heart-wrenching moments and he stood strong through it all.”
“I think what pulled us through this ordeal was just remaining anchored in our faith and trusting that Xolani would make a full recovery even though we knew his illness was very serious,” she added.
Xolani proposed to the beauty queen during his fortieth birthday celebration which was held in his hometown of Impendle in KwaZulu-Natal.
