Suits loses another main cast member – Patrick Adams – ahead of a renewed eighth season.

Actor Patrick Adams has played Mike Ross on law drama series Suits since its first season. Adams has been an integral part of the show which was created by esteemed American produced Aaron Korsh. The two have worked closely to develop Mike Ross’ character over the show’s past seven seasons.
Mike Ross was originally a ‘burnout pothead with no real prospects’ according to Patrick Adams. Mike is hired to work as a legal associate by Harvey Spectre, a hot-shot New York lawyer. Harvey soon discovers that Mike never attended law school. Together they become a formidable team working to close high-profile cases, all the while keeping Mike’s secret hidden.
Mike has now overcome these hinderances and has been allowed to practise law by the state bar. After serving a short prison sentence, he has become dedicated to doing pro-bono work.
Why Patrick Adams is leaving Mike Ross behind
Adams has explained his various reasons for leaving Suits.
His main reasoning has been that working on the show takes him away from his family for long periods of time. Patrick Adams is married to Pretty Little Liars actress, Troian Bellisario.
Adams also wants to pursue other projects. Working on Suits for the past seven years has sparked an interest in behind the camera work in Adams. He is learning the ropes of producing for television. This is what he said:
“There are also a couple of great stories I’m trying to develop to take out and pitch…I’m learning how you find homes for projects and what that process is and getting synced up with the right showrunners and producers…It’s fun; it feels like a brand-new start.”
Adams also felt that it was time for Mike to leave the world of Suits. Seeing how far the character has come over the last seven seasons, Adams made the decision that it was time to move on.
Patrick Adams said, “I had this voice in my head that said that we’ve told his story and if he hangs out longer, Mike is just going to be another lawyer on television. That didn’t feel right for him. It didn’t feel right for where I was at in my life, either.”
Mike and Rachel
Fans of the show will know that Mike Ross and his long-standing love interest Rachel Zane are about to tie the knot.
The irony of this storyline is that actress Meghan Markle who plays Rachel is a month away from getting hitched too. Markle will become Prince Harry’s wife on 19 May 2018.
Markle has had to leave Suits due to her impending role in the British royal family.
Fans may be disappointed to see two leads exiting the show. However, Patrick Adams has hinted in an interview that Mike and Rachel will be given a happy ending.
He suggested fans watch out for episode sixteen of season seven.
