NSFAS has released a statement addressing the status of new applications, claiming that it is currently processing the applications and doing the necessary checks.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) took to Twitter on Thursday, 25 February 2021, to address the matter of its supposed silence on the status of new applicants. The statement was issued a day earlier on Wednesday, 24 February 2021.
According to the statement, the delay is mostly due to the high volume of applications that have been received for this academic year, all of which need to be processed. Therefore, there has been a delay in circulating the final decision as due diligence and the necessary check on the applications are still being done.
NSFAS has asked for patience from students, as it is unable to provide an estimated day or time of finalisation. Students are being encouraged to continue to regularly check their statuses. NSFAS has yet to formally address the reported outstanding fees of existing beneficiaries.
