NSFAS has revealed that its board met with the PCHET earlier today for a formal introduction and to provide an update on funding for the 2021 academic year.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 18 May 2021, to detail the formal meeting between its board and the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education, Science and Technology (PCHET). The meeting took place at the NSFAS headquarters, with the purpose being to formally introduce the two bodies to each other.
Moreover, the meeting was for NSFAS to provide an update on funding for the current academic year. The board members and the PCHET were then invited to an exhibition aimed at detailing what governs the scheme. Details such as how the NSFAS e-wallet works and how students are paid by the scheme were elaborated on.
Following the update and the exhibition, the two bodies are said to “have a closed meeting during which the board will brief PCHET on plans to turn around the scheme and improve services to students. After the meeting, the Board and PCHET Chairpersons will jointly address the media.” There has been no word yet on when the media briefing is scheduled for.
